Cake Designs

Cake decorating is one of my favourite hobbies and I love to try out new designs and techniques as much as I can. This page is dedicated to my attempts, newest ones first.

Chelsea

My first double layer cake. Done for a group event.

Ruffle Cake

This is the ruffle cake combined with the rose cake, as you can see from the top.

Petal Cake

This design is called the petal cake. It's a bit shiny because it's just been made and the icing is a bit too warm.

Daisy Days

I made this cake for an eighteenth. The effect was achieved with flaked almonds and coffee beans on mocha mock cream. I used a toothpick to trace the numbers before using the beans. A medium to large palette knife is good for creating wavy/brushed look, or you could use the bake of a table spoon.

Rosette

As you can see by the photo, this cake was for a 21st, namely my sister's. Inside the cake are four layers of moist 'Free Chocolate Cake', sandwiched with whipped cream. The rosette pattern was with mock cream using a star tip. The idea is quite simple, but the result was fancy and intricate.

Chocolate Sprinkles

This cake was for some family friends. It was my first try at using mock cream as icing, but the result was light and delicious. The decorations are just cachous, pre-made icing flowers and broken up Smarties and chocolate. Simple but effective!

Spring Rose

This is my second go at cake decorating. It was for my Dad's birthday. It turned out a bit too feminine for a man's cake, but my Dad loves roses and this rose was the only one in decent condition.

Red Summer

I recently developed an interest in cake decorating and was eager to try my hand at it.Here is my first attempt. It was a bit rich, but I was pleased with how the piping work turned out.
